about

about
Ann Evelin Lawford is a Dutch cinematographer and artist (still & moving image), and currently based in London/Amsterdam. She has always had an urge to tell stories and induce feelings or emotions by creating images. The darker and disturbed side of the human existence, condition, psyche and behaviour is what she’s fascinated by, and is therefore naturally drawn to fragility, alienation, melancholy, and the tension and relationship between the intellect and the visceral. She has realised that openness is one of the most important approaches to tackling life in general, and for negociating the complex and perhaps invisible societal and political webs which require change. She feels at home when closer to nature, alive when shooting there, and inspired when travelling. She is a lover of fine art, and very sensitive to the aesthetic tradition of celluloid.
